Like our fellow Armenians, we believe that dining is all about friends, family, fun and flavour. And at Sezar, we think our mouth-watering Middle Eastern-inspired dishes speak for themselves. We haven’t seen many people say no to our wild green and feta boreg and plates of our brown butter hommus fly off the kitchen pass like hotcakes (or should we say, flatbread?). And let’s not get started on our hero dish: our 12-hour slow-cooked lamb shoulder with pickled eggplant.

We also think that when it comes to having a good night out, the drinks are just as important as the food – which is exactly why our team has compiled a stellar beverages list, featuring top wines from Australia and from around the world. In addition to classic Australian and French drops, we’ve also got some quirky labels from Croatia, Georgia, Lebanon and Armenia – and many bottles from places in between.
Our Armenian-inspired cocktails have also become a huge hit with Melbourne’s cocktail aficionados. We can’t tell if it’s because we create cocktails that you can’t find anywhere else in Melbourne, or if it’s because we use only the finest bitters, the freshest herbs, and the finest spirits, or if it’s because the flavour combinations are just so irresistible – or all of the above.
Here are five of our most popular cocktails, as voted by you:
Fun and flirty, this seasonal cocktail reminds us of our favourite female cousin that gets along with pretty much everyone. We keep things light with a simple mix of Prosecco, pomegranate liqueur and quince sorbet – it’s the perfect cocktail to start your evening on. Order one while you’re waiting for that one friend who’s always running late (there’s always one).
Jump on board this cocktail trail and be treated to an enduring crowd favourite. You can’t go wrong with a gin-based cocktail but when you throw in some egg white, raspberries, rose water and lemon in the mix, you know you’re onto a winner.
We Armenians don’t mind a sip (or ten) of brandy and Armenia makes some of the best brandy in the world (just ask our mate, Winston Churchill). If you’re new to the world of brandy, this cocktail makes for a suitable introduction. We blend a splash of 5-year-old Armenian brandy with branca menta, amaro piemontese and orange bitters for a cocktail that will have you wanting more.
Love brandy? Want something heavier and bit more broody? You’ll definitely love the intoxicating combination of 5-year-old castle brandy and hickory smoked apricot bitters, best enjoyed towards the end of your meal with or without dessert.
Long for an endless summer? Then this cocktail will do the trick for you. We can’t get enough of this vibrant blend of house-infused citrus vodka, rosemary, lemon and mandarin – and it seems like you guys are on the same page. For something that’s on the same wavelength but with a slightly bitter twist, its twin sister cocktail Sunset over Mt Ararat will do the trick. Think: sloe gin, elderflower, Campari, orange bitters and tonic. We’ll take two, please!
Okay, technically that makes it six cocktails but by this stage of the evening, who’s keeping count?
